COVID-19 and potential shifts in gender roles

In the March 1, 2021 National Geographic article, “We know the pandemic is affecting working moms—but how is that affecting kids?”, Martie Haselton, professor of psychology and the Institute for Society and Genetics, shares her insights and worries about how children may internalize COVID-related shifts in gender roles. “Kids might see that and grow up to say ‘Mom does this and Dad that’” she says. “That wouldn’t have happened without the pandemic.”
