
Couvillon Earns First Team Academic All-America Honors

LOS ANGELES – UCLA senior rower Elsa Couvillon has been named to the 2023-24 Academic All-America® Women's At-Large First Team, it was announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday morning.
Couvillon, who recently completed her degree in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology, becomes the first Bruin rower to receive the award since Monica Grova earned second-team honors back in 2004.
"We could not be more proud of Elsa," head coach Previn Chandraratna said. "She exemplifies everything we hope to achieve at UCLA, including this incredibly high level of academic achievement."
An outstanding student in the classroom Couvillon maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her time as a Bruin and was also named to UCLA's All-Academic Team at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year. She was also a two-time CRCA Scholar-Athlete honoree. On the water she competed in the varsity four, second varsity eight, and third varsity eight crews during her three years in Westwood.
The CSC Academic All-America® Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Each student-athlete must attain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher to be eligible for the award honors.
