Ecology and Evolutionary Biology professor, Paul Barber, has been awarded the 2019 Gold Shield Faculty Prize for his distinguished record of undergraduate teaching, research, creative activity, and public service within the university.

The Gold Shield Faculty Prize is awarded to an outstanding UCLA faculty member every year, alternating between north and south campus.  Prize recipients are selected by a committee of peers appointed by the Academic Senate– and by student and Gold Shield representatives. As part of the prize for their extraordinary accomplishments, awardees receive $30,000 to be used for scholarly purposes.
