She was driven by a personal desire to help patients, like her own cousin, who are born with the deadly muscle-wasting disease. Here, you can read more about the recent successes of MyoGene, the biotech startup that Dr. Young co-founded with her former graduate advisors, April Pyle, the George and Nouhad Ayoub Centennial Professor of Life Sciences Innovation and the vice chair of UCLA’s Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics and Melissa Spencer, UCLA professor of neurology and director of the UCLA Neuromuscular Medicine Program.
