Over the past 10 years, Kohn has developed a gene therapy treatment to correct DNA mutations in blood-forming stem cells. Using this therapy, he’s successfully treated several immune system deficiencies. While sickle cell disease has been difficult to treat with gene therapy up to now, this recent story provides hope.
