March 2024
On March 5th, the UCLA Division of Life Sciences, Life Sciences Student Association (LSSA), and Residential Life teamed up to create two fiery evening events.
The evening started in De Neve Commons with a feast of wings and hot sauces custom-made for the event, starting with the mildly spicy “Cub’s Kick” (think Jalapeño or Serrano) and building up to the “Bruin Inferno Burnover” (think Carolina Reaper or Trinidad scorpion)!
Dinner was followed by a Hot Ones-style informal interview with Dean Tracy Johnson.

Here, wing-by-wing, you can learn more about Dean Johnson, and maybe find useful advice for navigating your undergraduate journey at UCLA.
Wing 1: Dean Johnson’s path into science
Wing 2: On comparing yourself to others
Wing 3: Pivotal moments in Dean Johnson’s career
Wing 4: The dean’s, perhaps, lesser-known accomplishments
Wing 5: Advice for an academic journey
Wing 6: The future of science
Wing 7: Personal life and interests
Wing 8: Advice to young scientists
Many thanks to everyone involved in creating and promoting this great event!
