UCLA Life Sciences undergraduate, Thien Nguyen, has been named one of two UCLA recipients of the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship, one of the nation’s highest honors for university students in science, mathematics and engineering. The scholarship supports the nation’s most promising, up-and-coming researchers. Through her research in cancer immunology, Nguyen aims to develop better treatments for patients with cancer.

Nguyen is a third-year transfer student majoring in molecular, cell and developmental biology, and the first UCLA transfer student ever, to be awarded the Goldwater Scholarship.
