UCLA and Charles R. Drew University have been awarded $5 million to establish the new Dana Center Initiative for Neuroscience and Society. The new center will assemble a multidisciplinary team of experts –including local clinician-scholars, community partners and organizations in South Los Angeles – to make neuroscience more responsive to societal needs.

Among the five co-principal investigators leading the new center is Gina Poe, professor of integrative biology and physiology and new director of the UCLA Brain Research Institute.
